Featured class: butcher block table

The Rebuilding Exchange and Arc Academy are collaborating to bring you this 4 week (8 day) class where you will learn basic woodworking and welding skills to create an Ash wood butcher block table with a metal base.

This class takes place from 6-9pm Tuesday evenings at Arc Academy (2225 W. Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622) and 6-9pm Thursday evenings at the Rebuilding Exchange (1740 W. Webster Ave, Chicago, IL 60614) for 4 weeks. You must attend all classes. No prior woodworking or welding experience is required for this class. All materials are included in the cost of the class. Table dimensions are 16" x 16" x 30". The cost of this class is $680.

Class 1 (Tuesday, Sep 12 at Arc Academy): Basic MIG Welding Basics and Safety

Class 2 (Thursday, Sep 14 at Rebuilding Exchange): Shop safety, stock prep, and glue-up

Class 3 (Tuesday, Sep 19 at Arc Academy): Cut and Prep

Class 4 (Thursday, Sep 21 at Rebuilding Exchange): Hand planing and sanding

Class 5 (Tuesday, Sep 26 at Arc Academy): Fabrication

Class 6 (Thursday, Sep 28 at Rebuilding Exchange): Tabletop finishing

Class 7 (Tuesday, Oct 3 at Arc Academy): Base completion

Class 8 (Thursday, Oct 5 at Rebuilding Exchange): Table assembly
